Terms of Service

Last updated March 30, 2026

01.Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using campus reviews (the “Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

These Terms apply to all users — anonymous visitors, registered users, subscribers, and administrators. They incorporate by reference the Privacy Policy, Copyright Policy, and Community Guidelines. If there is a conflict between these Terms and any referenced policy, these Terms govern except where the other policy explicitly states otherwise.

Registered users provide affirmative acceptance of these Terms by checking the “I agree” checkbox during account registration. That acceptance is timestamped on the account record. Anonymous visitors who browse the Platform without an account are bound by these Terms to the extent applicable to unauthenticated use.

02.Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • To register, you must have a valid .edu email address. The Platform resolves your university automatically from your email domain. If no match is found, you may select your institution manually.
  • One account per .edu email address is enforced. Creating multiple accounts is prohibited.
  • The Platform currently serves institutions listed in our university database. Support for non-.edu international institutions may be added in the future.
  • The Platform is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to any university. It is an independent third-party service.

03.Accounts & Identity

Accounts are created using a .edu email and password. Email verification via a magic link is required before the account is activated.

Upon verification, you are assigned a system-generated anonymous username (e.g., swift-falcon-thunder). You may re-roll this username during signup but cannot type a custom one. Usernames are permanent after signup.

Your username is the only identifier visible to other users. Your .edu email address, real name, and any other personal information are never displayed publicly or shared with other users.

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
  • You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
  • You must not share your account credentials or allow others to use your account.

04.User-Generated Content & License Grant

“Content” means any text, ratings, files, messages, or other material you submit, including reviews, group posts, replies, chat messages, direct messages, uploaded resources, and professor profile corrections.

You retain ownership of your Content. However, by submitting Content, you grant campus reviews a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, display, and otherwise exploit such Content in any media or distribution method now known or later developed, for any purpose, including commercial purposes.

This license survives account deletion. When you delete your account, your reviews are removed from public display and your group posts are anonymized, but the underlying data and this license remain in effect.

You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to submit all Content, that your Content does not infringe any third party’s rights, and that it complies with these Terms and the Community Guidelines.

The Platform may use anonymized, aggregated Content — such as aggregate ratings data, anonymized review text, or statistical analysis — for research, analytics, partnerships, and commercial purposes. Individual user identities are never included in such data.

Note

The Platform does not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of any Content. Reviews and ratings reflect the personal opinions of individual users and not the views of the Platform.

05.Reviews

  • You may submit one review per professor-course combination. Duplicate submissions for the same pair are rejected.
  • You may only review professors at universities associated with your account.
  • Reviews include seven rating dimensions on a 1–10 scale, an optional text review, and a mandatory semester tag.
  • All reviews are subject to automated and manual review processes before publication. Reviews that are flagged are held for human review.
  • Reviews may be rejected for violating the Community Guidelines. Rejected reviews include a specific reason for the rejection.
  • Negative opinions about teaching quality, grading, workload, accessibility, or personality — even strongly worded — are never grounds for removal.

Review integrity commitments

Equal treatment: We do not subject negative reviews to greater scrutiny than positive ones, and we do not selectively suppress unfavorable reviews. All genuine reviews that comply with the Community Guidelines are published regardless of whether they are favorable or unfavorable.

Rating transparency: Overall professor and course ratings are simple averages across all published reviews. Every published review contributes equally — no review is weighted or excluded based on its sentiment.

No incentivized reviews: We do not generate, purchase, or solicit reviews in exchange for rewards, discounts, or any benefit that would skew ratings in any direction.

06.Class Groups

Class Groups are discussion communities organized around specific courses and professors. Accessing Group content requires a verified account and an active paid subscription for the relevant university, or early access status.

  • You may be a member of up to 15 groups simultaneously.
  • You may join up to 30 groups per semester. This counter does not decrement when you leave a group. Exceeding this limit triggers automatic account suspension for review.
  • At the end of each semester, professor-course groups are automatically archived — made permanently read-only. Past members retain permanent read-only access.
  • Group content (posts, chat messages, resources) is visible only to group members.

07.Payments & Subscriptions

  • Subscriptions are university-scoped: a subscription grants access to all Class Groups at a single university.
  • All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store or access your credit card details directly.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. A renewal reminder is sent 3 days before the billing date.
  • You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial or prorated refunds are issued.
  • The Platform reserves the right to change subscription pricing with advance notice. Price changes take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.
  • Early access users have lifetime free Group access. Early access status is permanent, cannot be transferred, and may only be revoked for Terms violations.

08.Direct Messages

Direct Messages allow private one-on-one conversations between users who share at least one active group and have an active subscription (or early access status).

  • DMs are private. Platform administrators do not have access to read DM content.
  • You may block any user from sending you DMs. The blocked user is not notified.
  • Messages can be deleted by the sender. Deleted messages show as “[deleted]” to the recipient.

09.Prohibited Conduct

You agree NOT to:

  1. 1.Create false or misleading accounts, or impersonate another person.
  2. 2.Re-register after a permanent ban using the same or a different .edu email.
  3. 3.Submit false, fabricated, or misleading reviews for courses you did not take.
  4. 4.Harass, threaten, or doxx other users — including posting personal identifying information about professors or students.
  5. 5.Post hate speech or slurs targeting any individual or group based on protected characteristics.
  6. 6.Post threats or credible threats of violence toward any person.
  7. 7.Post explicit sexual content about or directed at any person.
  8. 8.Spam, advertise, or post commercial content with no academic substance.
  9. 9.Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access or extract data without prior written permission.
  10. 10.Circumvent technical restrictions including rate limits, access controls, or subscription paywalls.
  11. 11.Upload illegal or infringing content, including copyrighted material you do not have permission to share.
  12. 12.Share your account credentials or allow another person to access your account.
  13. 13.Use the Platform for any unauthorized commercial purpose.
  14. 14.Interfere with the operation of the Platform via attacks or exploitation of vulnerabilities.

10.Moderation & Enforcement

The Platform employs automated screening and human moderation to enforce the Community Guidelines. Automated screening decisions are never final — a human administrator makes the ultimate determination.

ActionEffect
WarningFormal notice recorded on your account. No functionality is restricted.
Temporary suspensionTime-limited ban. You cannot log in until the suspension expires automatically.
Permanent banIndefinite removal. You cannot log in, and re-registration is blocked.

All enforcement actions include a specific reason communicated to you. Rejected reviews include a human-written reason. Permanent bans can be reversed by an administrator if issued in error.

11.Account Deletion

  • You may request deletion of your account at any time from your account settings.
  • Upon requesting deletion, your current sessions are invalidated immediately and retained authored content renders as “[deleted]”. Any active subscription is cancelled.
  • A 30-day grace period begins. If you log back in within 30 days, the deletion is cancelled and your account is fully restored.
  • After 30 days, your account is permanently deleted. Reviews remain visible under “[deleted]”, and retained community content and messages remain anonymized.
  • Account deletion does not revoke the content license granted in Section 4.

12.Intellectual Property

All Platform intellectual property — including the name, logo, design, layout, software, and original content — is owned by campus reviews and protected under applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, or create derivative works from any Platform IP without prior written permission.

The Platform respects the intellectual property rights of others. See our Copyright Policy for information about reporting infringement and DMCA compliance.

13.Third-Party Services

The Platform uses third-party services including Stripe for payment processing, AI providers for content moderation, and email delivery services for transactional emails. Your use of Stripe’s services is subject to Stripe’s own terms.

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or availability. The Platform is not affiliated with Rate My Professors, any university, or any other third-party review platform.

14.Disclaimers

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of any user-submitted Content. Reviews represent personal opinions, not the views of the Platform.

15.Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, campus reviews shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the Platform, any content posted by other users, unauthorized access to your account, or any other matter relating to the Platform.

Our total liability for all claims shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

16.Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless campus reviews and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of the Platform, your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party’s rights.

17.Dispute Resolution

  • Informal resolution first. Before filing any formal claim, you must contact us with a written description of the dispute and allow 60 days for informal resolution.
  • Binding arbitration. Any dispute not resolved informally shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration in accordance with applicable arbitration rules.
  • Class action waiver. You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action.
  • Opt-out. You may opt out of the arbitration and class action waiver provisions by sending written notice within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
  • Exceptions. Claims that qualify for small claims court and claims for injunctive relief related to intellectual property infringement are exempt from the arbitration requirement.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles.

18.Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or by posting a notice on the Platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

19.Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Copyright Policy, and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and campus reviews.
  • Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver.
  • Assignment. We may assign our rights without restriction. You may not assign yours without prior written consent.
